Volvo Recalls 1900 Units In India! 1

The recalled cars belong to the 2019-2020 model year

Volvo, as we are all aware, is a Swedish automotive manufacturer that produces luxury cars, which is currently owned by the Chinese group Zhejiang Geely. Volvo makes a boundless range of premium cars and SUV’s and they are one among the safest car manufacturers in the world.

Volvo India has recalled 1891 units of its various models, due to a dubious issue with the Automatic Emergency Braking (AEB) system. The models which are affected with this recall are MY 2019 and 2020 V90 Cross Country estate, S90 Sedan, XC 40, XC 60 and XC 90 SUVs.

The AEB system works by using radars to measure the distance to any vehicle in front or to any other obstacles ahead on the road like pedestrians, cyclists etc and automatically applies the brakes if getting too close to the obstacle, averting any possible accidents.

Volvo recently found out that at times and in high-temperature conditions, the AEB system fails to detect the obstacles effectively and to fix this issue, all it needs is just a simple software upgrade.

Also considering the current scenario of COVID-19 pandemic threat and the curfews issued by the government across the Indian streets, it might take longer for the cars to update their software.
