The Tata Ultra T7 is one of the most advanced LCVs in the country

Tata Motors currently has a well-stretched array of commercial vehicles on sale in the country and is one of the key CV players here. The homegrown brand has now further strengthened its lineup by launching the Tata Ultra T7 LCV. Claimed to be the manufacturer’s most advanced Light Commercial Vehicle, the Tata T7 Ultra has been designed specifically for urban transportation.

The Tata Ultra range of 10 tonner trucks have been in business here for quite some time. These vehicles, over the years, have amassed great ardor for their livable cabin and efficient dynamics. The same cabin has been reworked and made sleeker to be beautifully incorporated into the T7 LCV.

The Tata T7 Ultra comes built on a modular platform and deserves praise for its highly convenient turning radius and reduced turnaround time. It is also available in 4 tyre and 6 tyre configurations and with varying paylaod capacities. The T7 Ultra has a Gross Vehicle Weight (GVW) of 7300 kilograms, and best-in class payload capacities of 4.3 and 4.8 tonnes respectively.

Designed according to Tata’s ‘Power of 6’ philosophy, the Ultra T7 guarantees a maximum profit for fleet owners and a better cabin experience for the drivers. With a wheelbase of 3550 mm and spanning over 6400 mm in the overall length ( with the loading bay alone being over 4200 in length), the vehicle gets tubeless radial tires for better drivability, economy, and performance. The Ultra cabin, being just under 2 meters in width (1900mm to be precise), further adds to the convenience by offering shorter turnarounds in urban scenarios.

The cabin offers superior comfort and livability to the driver and is crash-tested as well. It gets adjustable seating positions, tilt and telescopic power steering, dash-mounted gear shifter, a factory-fitted music system, USB fast charging port, decent storage, and Tata’s Fleet Edge connected mobility system, for a convenient, safe and fatigue-free driver-experience.

Powering the Tata T7 Ultra is the familiar 2955cc 4SP CR diesel engine, which we had previously seen on other models from the Ultra range of trucks. This mill puts out 100hp and a good 300Nm of torque on the T7 and is mated to a 5-speed manual transmission. The vehicle gets drum air brakes for uncompromised braking at all times.

Owing to its urban specific genes, the Tata T7 Ultra would find generous use in the urban transportation industries like e-commerce, FMCG, industrial produce, electronics, essential goods, and the like. The T7 can also be had as reefer units and these would further add to their popularity. The manufacturer is also offering a 3 years/3 lakh kilometers warranty on the T7 as well.

The Ultra cabin sticks to the global benchmarks in terms of safety and occupant comfort, as these trucks are also being exported to foreign markets like Malaysia, the Philippines Indonesia, and S. Africa. Apart from this, the Tata I & LCV range is also available with the SFC, and LPT cabin layouts as well.
