Tata Hexa BS6 Could Be Launched Later This Year

Tata Hexa could be the flagship MPV for the Indian carmaker, if brought back !

Tata Motors had earlier showcased the BS6 compliant Hexa at the 2020 Auto Expo. The Hexa launch, which had originally been scheduled for earlier this year, was delayed due to the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic. However, Tata Motors is set to pick up momentum this year by launching an array of exciting products including the Altroz iTurbo, and the new Tata Safari (previously Tata Gravitas). If we are to believe the insider rumours, Tata could launch the BS6 Hexa later this year as their flagship MPV.

Although the Hexa didn’t perform well in the market when it was first launched, it did have a huge fanbase across the nation for being a capable MPV. The people who got a taste of it, loved it to the bits. It was also lauded much for having an AWD system as well. The home-bred MPV will be launched in the same ‘Safari Edition’ model, showcased at the 2020 Auto Expo.

The Hexa will not be recieving any major design updates as such, but we expect it to come with an updated infotainment system and some added equipment on the inside. The main upgrade will be the introduction of a BS6 compliant engine. The proven 2.2L Varicor400 diesel mill produced 156 hp and 400Nm of torque in the BS4 version of the Hexa and the Safari Storme. However, we are yet to know the power and torque figures of the BS6 guise.

The MPV will be made available either with a six-speed manual or a six-speed automatic gearbox with four-wheel-drive. The Safari Edition Hexa will recieve a new Green color paint job with black alloy wheels while the interiors will get lighter colours for the upholstery and trims. The Hexa, once launched will sit below the new Safari in the Tata stable.

Tata Hexa 2020 is expected to be priced between Rs 14 lakh to Rs 18 lakh (ex-showroom) and will compete against the like of Toyota Crysta, MG Hector Plus, and Mahindra XUV 5OO.
