Tata Harrier Proves Its Brawn In A Bizarre Crash, All Occupants Safe!

The Tata Harrier comes specced to safety with oodles of safety tech onboard and a solid build, all proved yet again here!

Tata Harrier is a car that has a vast fan following in India. The Harrier is revered not only for its kickass design and luring equipment list but also for the immense sense of safety onboard and the solid build quality that it has. Here is an instance from Jammu & Kashmir which shows how safe a car the Harrier is.

This white Tata Harrier is from J&K. It had been overspeeding when the driver lost control of the vehicle and the car toppled a number of times before losing momentum and coming to a stand still. As evident from the story, the crash had been serious. However, this tata car proved its brawn here by keeping all its occupants safe, keeping personal damage to mere scratches and wounds. The credit here goes to the build quality of the Harrier. Since there was no frontal impact as such, the airbags had not been deployed. Thus, one could easily infer that the strong build of the Harrier alone has saved lives here.

The car involved was a mid-spec pre-facelift Harrier. It had two frontal airbags among other safety equipment. However, the top-end trim of the all-new Harrier comes with as many as six airbags, ABS, EBD, Corner Stability Control, Electronic Traction Control etc. The pictures show a highly ravaged front end and completely shattered glass area. Major injury seems to have happened to the roof as well. We doubt if the passengers would have been safe as now, if it were not for the Harrier as the car involved in this crash.

The Harrier is built on the Land Rover derived Omega ARC platform. It uses lightweight high-tensile material and is therefore much strong in structure. It is an FCA-sourced 2.0L diesel engine that does the job in the Harrier. In pre-facelift cars like the one in the pictures here, it was tuned to produce 150 PS. However, the outgoing models have the figures boosted to 170PS, on par with rivals like MG Hector and Jeep Compass. The new Harrier also comes with a Hyundai sourced 6-speed automatic transmission that had also been missed out on the first-gen model. Tata Harrier price in India starts at INR 13.69 lakh and goes up to INR 20.25 lakh.

The Harrier is not the only Tata car that is being admired for its eye-popping safety standards. The carmaker’s crossover Nexon is India’s first 5-star global NCAP rated car. There have been several instances of Tata Nexons being involved in deadly crashes and their occupants walking out intact!
