Quite big an anticipation cloud has been cocooning the Tata Gravitas, ever since Tata Motors officially declared the product globally. The latest reports suggest that the flagship SUV from Tata Motors will be unveiled on January 26, 2021, when India will be celebrating its 72nd republic day. The 7 seat SUV based on the Harrier will now lead the carmaker’s SUV lineup here.

The Gravitas is built on Tata’s Omega Arc platform like the Harrier and to accommodate the third-row seats, the length and height have been increased by 63mm and 80mm respectively. The Gravitas will be 4661mm long, 1894mm wide and 1786mm tall, the wheelbase stands at 2741mm. It will have similar front fascia styling as the Harrier, however, it will have significant changes towards the rear from the B-pillar. The 7 seat SUV will have a longer rear overhang and an elevated roof. Gravitas will also be offered with different color options and a new set of alloy wheels to set it apart from the Harrier.

The Gravitas is expected to come equipped with features and equipments we’ve seen in the Harrier, including 8.8-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, panoramic sunroof, rearview camera, automatic wipers, auto climate control, cruise control, hill descent control, traction control, etc.

The 7 seater SUV will be equipped with the same 2.0L turbo-diesel mill churning out 170hp and 350Nm of torque mated to either a six-speed manual or six-speed torque converter automatic, much like the new Harrier.

Being the new flagship, the Gravitas will be priced some notches above its 5-seater counterpart which currently retails between Rs 13.84 – 20.30 lakh. Once launched, the Gravitas will compete against the like of MG Hector Plus and Mahindra XUV.
