Leading Formula E driver Briton Sam Bird joins Panasonic Jaguar Racing team from season seven!

Renowned Formula E driver Sam Bird will race for Panasonic Jaguar Racing from the seventh season of ABB FIA Formula E World Championship. The 33 year old racer had officially confirmed the decision recently.

Sam Bird has been participating in every Formula E race since the debut of the genre back in 2014. He also has as many as nine wins to his credit till date. Bird had started his racing career in 2002. In the initial days of his career, Bird had won good records in the Junior categories. Later he assumed some key Formula 1 roles including the testing duties for Williams and as the reserve driver for Mercedes AMG Petronas from 2011 to 2013. The recent wins of Bird include those at the FIA World Endurance Championship with Ferrari and the G-Drive Racing squad.

Sam Bird holds the absolutely strong credentials of being the only driver to have won a race in each of the F-E seasons till date and also for having achieved as many as nine race wins, 18 podiums, five poles and five fastest laps in starts. At Panasonic Jaguar Racing, Bird would have to drive the Jaguar I Typ, the first taste of which he would get after the current season concludes next month in Berlin. Jaguar Panasonic Racing has Bird’s first race with them scheduled for 16 Jan, in Chile.

“I am really looking forward to a new chapter in my Formula E career with Panasonic Jaguar Racing. I have watched Jaguar’s growth and progress in the series and am very proud to be driving for an iconic British brand with such a successful racing DNA and joining an incredible list of drivers that have raced for the brand.

I am incredibly hungry for success and I believe that together with Mitch we can achieve great things for the team and ourselves. I want to thank Envision Virgin Racing for everything we have achieved together and wish them well for the future. After Berlin, I can’t wait to test the Jaguar I-TYPE and be in the best place possible for season seven and beyond.”
