The MG Hector is being manufactured in the manufacturer’s newly built assembly in Gujarat

It hasn’t been long since the globally acclaimed brand ‘Morris Garages‘ aka MG officially announced their Indian debut. India’s desperate wait to taste the MGs has only been made worse recently with the carmaker announcing their first model for India to be the SUV christened Hector, that would also be India’s first Internet car.

We now have more to rejoice about MG, as the locally manufactured MG Hector SUV begins production at the carmaker’s all-new facility at Halol in Gujarat. The production has been done after testing the car for over one million kilometres in the diverse road and climatic conditions across India.

“We are proud to be rolling out the first made in India, feature-rich internet car, the MG Hector, from our all-new assembly line in Gujarat. Adopting the highest quality global manufacturing standards, the Hector has been specially customized to suit Indian customer preferences and road conditions. The MG Hector is poised to become a new benchmark in SUVs,” said Rajeev Chaba, President & Managing Director, MG Motor India.

The Hector is claimed to live totally up to its ‘India specific’ tag with over 300+ India specific changes onboard! It is scheduled to be shipped to the dealer networks and showrooms that amount to over 65 units across 50 cities, within the next few weeks. The MG Hector car will make its global debut on 15th of May and the pre-orders would begin as soon as in June! We thus hope the official MG Hector launch date to also befall in the month of June itself.

Though we have very vague clues of the official production guise MG Hector images now, the SUV has evidently been designed to look the smartest an SUV of this size can ever do! It’s is claimed to host cutting edge technology and offer breathtaking performance and heartwarming features. The next generation iSMART technology onboard ensures safe, connected and fun experience to the customers of India’s first internet car. The segment-best 10.4 inch touchscreen infotainment system onboard the Hector, flaunts a revolutionary Over the Air (OTA) technology, which lets you update software, features, themes, and infotainment content, whenever the updates are available.

Not much has been made lucid yet, about the MG Hector specifications, but a 1.5L turbo petrol and 2.0 L diesel mills are hoped to be slated for India. There are also rumours that the petrol version would feature a mild hybrid system for improved efficiency. We expect the MG Hector Price in India to be in the INR 16-20 lakh range.
