Marazzo Will Live, Automatic To Launch Soon, Confirms Mahindra!

The official word from Mahindra dismisses all the erstwhile rumours of the MPV meeting its doom

Recently some very convincing rumours had surfaced on the internet, hinting at the Mahindra Marazzo MPV meeting its doom soon. Many media houses, including us, had carried these as well. However, days past the same, Mahindra , in a conversation with CarAndBike, has confirmed the same to be pointless and has also revealed the details of the upcoming Marazzo Automatic.

A few weeks back, Mahindra’s newly appointed MD Anish Shah had announced the company’s vision for getting its entire focus glued to full size SUVs in the future. This should probably have formed the base for the earlier rumors. It should be told at this point that Mahindra and Mahindra has given out no public media statement on the continuation/discontinuation drama yet, meaning these are all reports by the various publications.

The earlier reports had stated the drooping domestic sales as the possible causes for the proposed discontinuation. However, the company spokesperson has told the publication that Mahindra has invested highly in the BS6 line of these nameplates and have clear visions for the future. The KUV100 is still an important export for the carmaker. The Marazzo, too forms an integral part of the Mahindra portfolio for India. The spokesperson further confirmed the upcoming launch of an automatic variant of the MPV.

The automatic Marazzo will have the familiar AutoShift AMT transmission mated to the BS6 compliant 1.5L, four-cylinder diesel engine, producing 121 hp and 300 Nm. The current 6 speed manual gearbox will continue to be available. There is, however, no news yet of Marazzo’s petrol iteration, which is among the highly anticipated launches of these times.
