Mahindra Bolero NEO

Mahindra Bolero NEO is essentially a heavily updated TUV 300 for the BS6 era

Mahindra and Mahindra has launched the all-new Bolero NEO in India with prices starting from Rs 8.48 lakh (ex-showroom). The market debut was originally scheduled for July 15th. However, the carmaker later decided to prepone the same. Mahindra had recently been teasing us with videos and pictures of this vehicle, which clearly suggested that this new UV is essentially a reworked TUV 300 with Bolero name tag.

The Bolero NEO comes in as the replacement for the TUV and is available in three different variants- N4, N8, and N10. It slots below the XUV 300 in the Mahindra lineup.

Mahindra Bolero NEO: What Is It?

Mahindra Bolero NEO is a sub-four-meter SUV built on the Scorpio’s platform and carries forward almost everything from the discontinued TUV 300, but with significant improvements. The NEO has a few key design deviations from the TUV 300 like a revamped set of headlamps with integrated LED DRLs, new bumpers, redesigned fog lamps and their housings, wider air intakes, new grille with vertical Chrome slats, new wheels, Bolero’s clamshell bonnet design, etc.

Much has changed inside the cabin as well. The interior of the Bolero NEO looks better than the TUV’s or even the regular Bolero for that matter! There have been significant equipment additions too. The Bolero NEO comes with premium Beige fabric upholstery, a new instrument cluster with a large digital multi-information display, 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system, cruise control, new-gen Mahindra’s signature steering wheel design, electrically adjustable wing mirrors, and more.

Specifications

Mahindra Bolero NEO is underpinned by the Scorpio’s ladder-frame chassis and draws its power from the BS6 compliant version of the 1.5L 3 cylinder diesel engine that used to do duty on the TUV. It churns out 100 hp and 260 Nm (20 Nm more than the TUV) and is mated to a 5-speed manual transmission. The top variants of Bolero NEO get a mechanically locking differential for improved traction. The vehicle has an RWD layout. Key safety techs on the Bolero NEO include ABS< EBD, dual airbags, reversing sensors etc.
