Hero Motocorp Sells 1.83 Lakh Units In May 2021

The May sales for Hero Motocorp were adversely impacted by the plant closure and halt of ops

Hero Motocorp closed its May 2021 recording sales of 183,044 units. 1,78,706 motorcycles and 4,338 scooters were sold in total. The domestic sales alone amounted to 1,59,561 units while 23,483 exports were recorded. A proper YoY comparison does not hold good here as May 2020 had witnessed worse pandemic strikes and operation halts. With that said, Hero had posted net sales of 1,06,038 motorcycles and 6,644 scooters back then. Thus, there has been a notable improvement in numbers this time. However, the May sales figures have had a fall when compared to those of April 2021. Hero had posted sales of 3.72 lakh units in April.

The May 2021 sales were adversely impacted by the prevailing pandemic and associated chaos. Hero had also closed its plant and halted operations recently, in response to the second wave of COVID 19.Three of the manufacturing facilities- Gurugram, Haridwar and Dharuhera, resumed operations on May 17, with single shifts. The remaining ones at Neemrana, Halol and Chittoor resumed ops on May 24. Hero is rapidly monitoring the situation and is planning to hit double-shift production as and when things improve.
