Honda Civic Diesel Goes BS6!

The diesel iteration of Honda Civic comes mated to a 6 speed manual transmission

Honda Cars India finally launches the BS6 diesel-powered Civic here. The new generation Civic was launched in March 2019, in India and had both petrol and diesel iterations. The petrol engine had made its debut as a BS6 compliant unit back then. The transition to BS6 for the diesel has happened now as well. The executive sedan is currently in its 10th generation globally.

The Honda Civic is one of the largest selling nameplates for the carmaker globally. The sales have been decent in India as well. The car comes offered in two engine options- the i-VTEC petrol and the 1.6L i-DTEC diesel. The petrol comes mated to a CVT, while the diesel gets a 6-speed manual transmission. The Civic’s diesel engine is good to churn out 120 PS and 300Nm, pretty decent for a car of this class. Honda offers fuel efficiency of around 23.9 km/l on the diesel Civic. Apart from the reduced emissions, the all-new Civic also gets a pair of curtain airbags as well, taking their count to an impressive 6 on both the variants.
