The BMW 3 Series Gran Limousine will offer a plush rear ride for the savvy !

BMW India confirms the launch of the long wheel base version of their entry-level executive sedan, 3 series. The car will be officially launched here on 21st January 2021.

So lets see how is it different from the standard 3 series. The Gran Limousine is 120 mm longer and slightly taller than the standard 3 series. And the wheelbase at 2961mm, is 110mm longer than the standard one. Although an untrained eye wouldn’t be able to tell the visual difference in a first glimpse.
Stepping inside, neither the driver nor the front passenger will see any dissimilarity compared to the standard car. However, get past the B pillar and it is a completely different story ahead! the rear does show its size quite well.

A longer wheelbase essentially means extra legroom! Rear legroom has grown by 43 mm, the longer rear doors will aid easy ingress and egress, seats also have been redone, with better cushioning and bolstering. Ah! That must be a more comfy place to be in, compared to the standard 3 series.

Th equipment array remains the same as that of the standard car and includes stuff like an 8.8-inch touchscreen with BMW’s iDrive infotainment system, LED headlight and tail-lights, panoramic sunroof, ambient lighting, multi-zone climate control, etc. Just like the standard 3 series, Gran Limousine is expected to be powered either by a 2.0L turbocharged petrol engine with 258 hp on tap or a 2.0 L turbocharged diesel mill producing 190hp. Both engines come mated to the 8-speed step-Tronic sport automatic transmission.

The BMW 3 Series Gran Limousine will sit above the standard 3 series and below the 5 series. The prices are expected to be a notch higher than the regular 3 series which now retails between Rs 42.30-49.30 lakh (ex-showroom, pan-India). Once launched, it will compete against the likes of the Mercedes-Benz C-class and Jaguar XE.
