The Audi Q8 in India, gets a 340hp V6 petrol mill, and that’s enough adrenaline for the day!
Audi has brought in their flagship SUV coupe- the 2020 Audi Q8, to the Indian shores. The German marque launched it for a price tag of 1.33 crores (ex. showroom, Pan India) The Q8 comes in as a much premium and exclusive offering, with just 200 units allotted for the Indian market initially.
Through Q8 Audi has brought in its latest design philosophy to India, which would soon be followed by the updated Q3 and Q7. The Q8 gets epic exterior design. A massive front grille, gorgeous LED headlamps, frameless doors and a floating coupe-ish roofline, all but add more flair to the SUV. The angular tailgate and full-width taillamps make this sport utility vehicle stand out of the crowd.
The overall cabin layout and interior design of the Q8 resemble those of the flagship sedan – Audi A8, in many aspects. The dash gets Audi’s dual touchscreen control system, as seen on the new Audi A6 that was launched in India recently.
The Audi Q8 gets two V6 engines in the international market- a 3.0L petrol V6 with 340hp & 500Nm and a 3.0L diesel V6 with 230 hp and 500Nm. However, Audi India has chosen to launch JUST the petrol iteration here in India, with the country sprinting towards BS6 adoption. Audi had revealed earlier that they would not be bringing in any BS6 diesels in a hurry and would rather wait to get a clearer picture of how things go here.
Thus it is just the Audi Q8 55 TFSI that we get for now. This coupe sport utility vehicle does the o-100 sprint in a mere 5.9 seconds time. The top speed has been limited to 250kmph. The vehicle also comes with an efficient 48V mild hybrid system, that gives the overall fuel efficiency a significant boost altogether. An 8-speed DCT transmission does the job in the new Audi Q8 and there is the renowned ‘Quattro’ All wheel drive system on offer as well.
Audi targets exclusivity through the Q8. As mentioned before, just 200 units have so far been allotted for India and will all be built to spec. The major Audi Q8 rivals in India will be the Porsche Cayenne Coupe and the upcoming BMW X6. Range Rover Sport could also be said to go against the Q8, considering its price and specifications here.
