65 Tata Nexon EVs To Join Kerala MVD Soon!

Kerala MVD finally goes for a stylish interceptor and enforcement vehicle, the Tata Nexon EV!

Tata Motors has done an absolutely fab job with the all-electric Tata Nexon EV. The EV was launched a couple of months back and has been amassing much praise ever since for its interesting dynamics in spite of the electric genes. Kerala MVD has now placed orders for 65 units of the EV. The interest in the electric Nexon comes in as part of the Safe Kerala Project and would be maintained by 65 different squads within the force.

The fleet will get MVD specific livery and all the paraphernalia required for the successful enforcement of Motor vehicle rules, regulations, and effective road discipline. The Kerala Motor Vehicle Department wishes to seat four in each of these Nexons. Thus the various pieces of equipment like speed sensors, cameras, etc would be mounted keeping this in mind.

The Nexon EV has been built on the carmaker’s newest EV architecture- the Ziptron. It is essentially the first car that the Ziptron has spawned in India. The Nexon Electric uses a 30.2kWh Lithium-ion battery to power the single electric motor mated to its wheels. The power and torque figures are 129hp and 245Nm respectively. The EV comes with an ARAI certified range of 312km. And mind you, this is no snail when it comes to the performance, thus an apt pick for a stylish interceptor. The Nexon EV has three different variants on sale in India, priced from INR 13.99-15.99 lakh. However, we are yet to know which of these have been ordered by the MVD.
