2021 Maruti Suzuki Celerio Spied Undisguised!

The 2021 Maruti Suzuki Celerio would have significant design and equipment upgrades

Maruti Suzuki Celerio had, in its time, been one of the major volume sellers for the Japanese carmaker in the country. Originally based on the Maruti Suzuki A Wind concept, the Celerio had made its market debut in 2014. It was available in a total of 6 variants upon launch. Courtesy to the wide price range and specs, the Celerio soon rose to popularity.

The overwhelming initial responses to the Celerio made Maruti Suzuki so ambitious, as to give it an 800 cc diesel engine in June 2015! The diesel-powered Celerios, however, did not gain acceptance here and was quite infamous for its diesel-ish spoilsports. The Celerio X, essentially a half-cooked crossover based on the car was introduced in 2017 as well, which for obvious reasons, did not live up to expectations.

The Celerio is soon to get a generation update in India. We expect the new hacthback to launch in the coming months. The latest images surfaced online, show the next generation Celerio testing undisguised.

In what appears to be the rear three-fourth shot of the car, the second-gen Celerio looks more premium and somehow resembles the larger Baleno in its tail section. It now gets a more rounded design and rectangular taillamps which look quite like those on the Baleno. There is even an integrated spoiler on the test car, which by the way, runs on steel rims. The second-generation Celerio is bigger than the outgoing car making for more room on the inside. It also gets a more raked roofline and windshield than the previous-gen car. Though we are yet to see them in real, the headlamps, grille, and front bumper are also hoped to be absolutely new.

Subtle changes are expected on the inside as well. The new car is expected to get the latest SmartPlay touchscreen infotainment system from Maruti Suzuki among other desirable stuff. The Celerio 2021 will be powered either by a 1.0 L 3 cylinder petrol or a more refined 1.2 L petrol engine and will have 5MT and AMT transmissions on offer.
