Starting prices for the 2021 Hyundai Elantra in South Korea translates to INR 9.52 lakh, FAB!

The much-awaited 2021 Hyundai Elantra finally goes on sale in South Korea, and the prices are absolutely fascinating. The car is available in four grades, viz- Style, Smart, Modern and Inspiration. The Korean price of the Elantra starts at KRW 15.31 million which translates to approx. INR 9.52 lakh. One could buy the range-topping model there for around KRW 23.92 million (INR 14.87 lakh).

The seventh-generation Hyundai Elantra has had rounds of cheers from the Koreans since its announcement. It has managed to amass about 17,000 pre-bookings in its home market between March 25 and April 6. The all new Elantra packs a thoroughly rvised styling. The car now looks absolutely dope and gets all post-modern design cues like parametric jewel patterned front grille, full LED headlamps, all new LED tail lamps among many others. The overall design breathes freshness.

The cabin too gets plush styling and lots of equipment. There is a large 10.25 inch touchscreen infotainment system ( similar to the one found on the new Hyundai Creta), ten way adjustable powered, ventilated driver seat, ambient lighting, digital instrument cluster, Bose audio system with 8 speakers, and the list goes on.

The Korean model gets two powertrain options- a gasoline and LPG. In the gas guise, it comes powered by a Smartstream G1.6 petrol engine, mated to either a six speed manual transmission or an IVT box. The petrol mill is good to let out 123PS at 6300 rpm and 154 Nm at 4500 rpm. Efficiency figures tip the scales at 14.4kpl for MT and 15.4 kpl for the CVT.

The LPG powered model gets a LPi 1.6 powerhouse that lets out 120 PS at 6000 rpm and 152 Nm at 4500 rpm. There will be just a six-speed automatic transmission available on the LPG model. It is claimed to return a fuel efficiency figure of 10.6 kmpl. The LPG range goes on sale in Korea for KRW 18.09 ,million (INR 11.24 lakh)

India Entry?

The seventh generation of the Hyundai Elantra would most likely enter the Indian market later next year, replacing the recently introduced facelift. The car will compete against the likes of Honda Civic and Skoda Octavia.
