2020 Mercedes Maybach S Class Unveiled, The New Wizard Of Luxury Is Here!

Mercedes is all set to roll out the Maybach S-Class in China by Mid-2021, while we’ll have to wait till 2022 for the Indian launch.

The German carmaker unveiled the new generation S-class a couple of months ago, and now the flagship of luxury from Stuttgart receives a Maybach therapy. You can not go wrong with a Maybach when it comes to luxury, Mercedes has officially kicked-off the 2021 Maybach S-class.

You wouldn’t be surprised when we tell you that the hood and trunk can be in different continents, at 5469mm, Maybach S-Class is 180mm longer than the “LONG WHEELBASE” version of the new S-class, the wheelbase of the luxury limousine at 3396mm is 31mm longer than the outgoing model. Yes! You’re allowed to go WOW!

Yes! I heard you ask “what makes it different from the regular S-class?”

The Maybach S-Class gets the signature Maybach grille with slim vertical slots and the ‘Maybach’ inscription on top (just in case you doubt), a chrome line in the middle of the bonnet that runs across the hood’s length, the lower parts of the front and rear bumpers are garnished with chrome, 34 spoke alloy wheels, larger rear doors, Maybach insignias on the C-pillars and an optional two tone paint job with a divider line.

All the drama is on the inside, similar to the S-Class the interior design is minimal along with second generation MBUX infotainment system. 12.8″ tablet style infotainment screen, a 12.3″ 3D digital instrument cluster and upto 3 screens for the rear-seat passengers.

Specific to the Maybach version are wood finishes for the front seatbacks, with a matching finish applied to the rear-centre console as well. As standard, the new Maybach S-class gets individual ‘Executive’ rear seats and a Chauffeur package as standard. The backrest of the Executive seats can be reclined by as much as 43.5 degrees, and the backrest of the front passenger seat can be tilted forward by as much as 23 degrees to free up even more room at the back, allowing the rear-seat passenger to really stretch out.

Also part of the package is a massage function integrated into the rear seat calf rests, a neck/shoulder heating function for the rear passengers, adaptive rear lighting, powered rear door opening and closing, an optional rear refrigeration compartment between the Executive seats and active road noise compensation, which employs the Burmester 4D sound system to produce counter-phased sound waves.

Let’s not forget about the active ambient lighting system, which employs 253 LEDs, a head-up display with augmented reality, along with an optional Interior Assist function, which uses cameras to track movements of the car’s occupants and proactively trigger certain functions. For example, the system will activate the rear seat’s automatic seatbelt extender – a first for a Mercedes-Benz sedan –if it senses the passenger reaching for the belt.

Pop the hood and you’ll be looking at a 4.0L twin-turbo with EQ boost mild hybrid technology which puts out 502 PS of peak power and 699 Nm of maximum torque while the electric motor supplies an additional 21 PS of power and 249 Nm of torque. E-active body control suspension and rear-axle steering are both optional extras with the Maybach S-Class.

While the car is to go on sale in China by mid 2021, we are yet to have a clue as to when it would hit the Indian shores.
