2020 Mercedes AMG GTR Launched In India At INR 2.48 Crores

The changes in the new Mercedes AMG GTR have all been on the design and equipment fronts.

Mercedes Benz India is taking the game seriously with its AMG wing. They have just launched the 2020 AMG GTR in the country at INR 2.48 crores. The previous model had been selling for INR 2.33 crores here. The hike in price could be credited to the design and equipment changes onboard the new car. The AMG GTR comes in via the CBU route and can be bought online.

The new GTR gets numerous changes in its design and in the equipment array. The car gets revised headlamp units, enhanced aerodynamics, and hood design on the cosmetic front. The overall design still reminds the Mercedes GT track machine, which it is based on, quite a bit. It gets stunning 19-inch alloy wheels at the front and massive 20 inchers at the rear (with some extra rubber of course!) A lot of Carbon Fibre has been used in the overall build, and this has further upped the performance quotient as well. The rear gets AMG GT inspired LED tail lamps and a CF rear wing. There are three exhausts at the rear, the central one of which has been made out of Titanium for added performance.

The cabin, or rather the cockpit of this two-seater has been retouched quite a bit. Mercedes Benz has made it a more practical and convenient place for the customers to be in. It retains the V shaped dashboard layout, reminiscent of the V8 heart. However, a new 12.3 digital instrument cluster now finds a place in the GTR and the large infotainment display has also been revamped. The latter now offers better precision and response and gets more connectivity options. The GTR has gotten Mercedes Benz connected car technology to further add to the customer convenience. There is also a monumental 1000 Watts 11 speaker Burmester surround sound system on offer on the new car.

Nothing as such has changed on the mechanical and performance fronts, except for the improved aerodynamics. The AMG GTR 2020 continues to be powered by the 4.0L Bi-turbo V8 belonging to the M178 GT family. It continues to let out 585 hp and 700 Nm and is mated to a 7 Speed DCT. Courtesy to the mighty V8, improved aerodynamics, AMG suspension, and other performance upgrades, the AMG GTR can do the 0-100 dash in just 3.6 seconds! There are optional Ceramic brakes and an efficient rear-wheel steering mechanism on offer as well.

AMG has been having ample traction in the Indian market in recent times. Sources indicate that the Mercedes AMG share of the performance market has had a whopping 54% hike last year, despite the general industry downturn. Delhi is the number one core market for the AMGs, followed by Bangalore and Mumbai. With so much acceptance in play for performance machines, it seems absolutely apt for the carmaker to have come up with the AMG GTR 2020 now.
